Tobacco
Tobacco use is considered the most
important preventable risk factor to disease and premature death. This
behavior is a specific target of the researchers at the Indiana University
Bowen Research Center. Recently conducted tobacco use reduction studies
have focused on providing future physicians with the tools they need to
effectively counsel their patients who smoke; developing and evaluating
interventions; and assisting the Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation
Agency and Smoke Free Indiana in developing their strategies to address
this issue. Future efforts will include continuing to develop and assess
provider-based tobacco use interventions.
