Robert M. Saywell, Jr., Ph.D., MPH
Dr. Saywell serves as emeritus professor for the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Saywell received his Ph.D. in economics from Colorado State University in 1972 and his master's degree in public health administration from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in 1973. Before coming to Indiana University in 1981, he was a faculty member at the University of Iowa graduate program in hospital and health administration (1977-1981) and at Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health (1973-1977). His research interests include health economics; health program evaluation; research methods; technology assessment; and, in particular, tobacco prevention and cessation interventions. Dr. Saywell has over 70 publications in nationally recognized health services research journals representing a wide range of health services delivery issues. He has been the principal or co-investigator on 42 grants and contracts and authored or co-authored over 60 technical reports since 1987. |
