Stephen Bogdewic, Ph.D.

Dr. Stephen Bogdewic is Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development and Dr. George W. Copeland Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is also Adjunct Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and Professor of Public and Environmental Affairs. In 2003-2004 Dr. Bogdewic served as President of the Indiana University School of Medicine faculty. Dr. Bogdewic also chaired the task force that developed the I.U. School of Medicine competency-based curriculum.

Dr. Bogdewic received his Ph.D. in Adult Education and Organizational Development from the University of North Carolina and his M.A. in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Santa Clara University. In1999 he received the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Excellence in Education Award and from 2000-2001he served as President of STFM. Dr. Bogdewic is nationally recognized for his work in the area of faculty development, particularly in the area of leadership development. He has offered hundreds of leadership development programs within the United States and abroad and for the past eleven years he has served as course director for the largest national leadership development program for chief residents.

Dr. Bogdewic is a licensed marriage and family therapist and maintains an active clinical practice. His scholarly interests include professional development, leadership development, clinical teaching skills, and the quality improvement of health care. Since 2003 he has served as one of the co-hosts of Sound Medicine, a weekly public radio program sponsored by the Indiana University School of Medicine and WFYI Public Radio.
